At least the first film was a reasonable mix of sentiment, fisticuffs and pace, all of which was reduced in a dire sequel. Here, in a feeble third outing, the "Kid" (fortunately, 27-year-old Ralph Macchio doesn't look old enough to shave) has to defend his title and tackle the bad guys, initially without the help of his mentor Mr Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita). The script takes leave of reality at an early stage, and it all becomes increasingly daft and humourless with each scene.
Summary
The teenage martial arts expert becomes obsessed with defending his championship title, but wise mentor Mr Miyagi is not prepared to help him fight for such a shallow goal. Seeking someone else to help guide his career, he falls under the influence of a crooked trainer - who is secretly plotting his downfall with the help of an old adversary. Adventure sequel, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita.
