Our Score
In this fluffy, New York-set romantic comedy, Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up) plays a woman who is always the bridesmaid, never the bride - and has 27 bridesmaid dresses in her wardrobe to prove it. Her story attracts the attention of newspaper wedding columnist James Marsden. He falls for Heigl, but she only has eyes for her oddly oblivious boss, Edward Burns, whose interest lies with her sister, Malin Akerman. This being Hollywood, of course, there are no prizes for guessing how these issues are resolved. The target audience for Anne Fletcher's film is unashamedly feminine and it duly delivers no surprises - yet there is something oddly reassuring about that. It's like the cinematic equivalent of an old comfort blanket.

Singleton Jane is literally always the bridesmaid and never the bride, a role she assumes for the 28th time when her sister announces she is getting married - to a man Jane is secretly in love with. As she wrestles with her feelings, Jane's predicament attracts the attention of a reporter fascinated by her story. Romantic comedy, starring Katherine Heigl, James Marsden and Malin Akerman.
