Tangled
is Disney's 50th animated movie and this deft version of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, drawn with clever CGI panache, is a resounding success. Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) was kidnapped from her royal parents as a baby and trapped in a tower by Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy) so that she could use the princess's long, golden magical hair to stay forever young. Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) is a handsome and cocksure thief who provides the sassy royal with a possible escape route. Their ensuing adventures are great fun, Rapunzel's multitasking flowing tresses are used to great effect in lively action sequences, and there are some beautifully uplifting moments, such as a spectacular scene of floating lanterns.
