This inevitable sequel sees kingsize comic Kevin James reprising his hit 2009 role as the amiable buffoon who wanted to be a cop, but who wound up a shopping-centre security guard instead. Having somehow thwarted a sophisticated gang of mall thieves in the undemanding but mildly amusing first film, Blart here attends a security convention in Las Vegas, and once again finds his dubious skills called on when his daughter disturbs a casino art heist. It's a slow starter, but things pick up slightly with the belated introduction of James's trademark pratfalls and slapstick action. But it's still essentially more of the same, only less so, with comedy that isn't so much telegraphed as sent by second-class post. But, if you liked the first film, you'll almost certainly like this. And if you didn't, you won't.
Summary
The bumbling security guard is invited to attend a conference in Las Vegas, and brings his teenage daughter along for a family holiday before she leaves for college. However, he is forced to leap into action when he uncovers a gang of criminals are plotting a casino heist. Comedy, starring Kevin James and Raini Rodriguez.
