Diane Keaton stars here as a ruthless New York executive whose business ambitions falter when she inherits a dead relative's baby girl. Intending at first to have the child adopted, she softens and decides to raise the girl herself. The men in Keaton's life - boss Sam Wanamaker and lover Harold Ramis - aren't sympathetic to her new working mother status, so she buys a money-pit mansion in the country and tries to make it on her own, with local veterinarian Sam Shepard popping in to borrow an egg or two. Allegedly pro-feminist, it still defines a woman by the males who influence her, though its mix of cuteness and acuteness makes it one of Keaton's most likeable films.

A successful New York consultant is made the guardian of her dead cousin's baby daughter. At first she plans to put the child up for adoption, but finds herself unable to go through with it and reluctantly takes on the role of mother - a decision that throws her personal and professional lives into turmoil. Comedy, starring Diane Keaton, Harold Ramis, Sam Shepard and Sam Wanamaker.
