Crime caper starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway. After being released from prison on parole, con artist Debbie Ocean reunites with her old partner-in-crime, Lou Miller. They immediately set about co-ordinating an audacious new heist: stealing a $150 million necklace from the actress wearing it at New York's Met Gala. To pull this off, Debbie recruits a crack team including a pickpocket, a hacker and a disgruntled fashion designer.

Sandra Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, the sister of George Clooney's Danny, who reunites with her right-hand woman (Cate Blanchett) on release from prison. The heist itself is as ingenious as it is completely preposterous, but where the film really shines is in its powerhouse talent, with Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and Awkwafina all rising to the occasion. Bullock provides a steely, edgy centre and Blanchett inhabits the super-cool sidekick with no sign of any double Oscar-winner ego. The antics are as ingenious as they are preposterous and the film strikes many of the right feminist-fuelled notes. It may not be as slickly executed as its predecessors, but thanks to its divine cast, the overall effect is entertainingly empowered.
