Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

This watchable financial thriller could easily have been called The She-Wolves of Wall Street, because the women working in New York's throbbing economic hub prove just as rough, tough and ruthless as its men. And why shouldn't they? The focus of director Meera Manon's drama is on three women involved in the first public share issue of a social media company with a back-door flaw that could compromise user privacy: Anna Gunn's ambitious investment banker, Sarah Megan Thomas's self-serving assistant and cop Alysia Reiner, who's a former friend of Gunn but suspicious of some shady dealings. However, waiting and watching in the wings is Gunn's boyfriend (played by British actor James Purefoy), no mean opportunistic Wall Street wolf himself. Equity is well made and acted, and doesn't befuddle the brain like some movies set in the financial world. And though it's no life-changer, it still offers decent entertainment.
