Our Score
From the producing/directing team of Michael Relph and Basil Dearden, a drearily predictable but well-handled slice of dour British realism, set in Liverpool. Stanley Baker is a policeman who, after unsuccessfully investigating an outbreak of arson, is transferred to the job of juvenile liaison officer in a depressed area. He falls in love with Anne Heywood, only to discover that her young brother David McCallum is the arsonist. The film finally catches alight, too, in a dramatic climax where young McCallum gets a gun and holds his siblings hostage.
