Our Score
The one thing you could never usually say about Trevor Howard was that he was a dull performer. However, he was certainly the wrong side of interesting in this utterly predictable thriller about gunrunning in the North African desert. Usually a dab hand at this sort of thing, director Ronald Neame is content to cruise in low gear, thus wasting the villainous potential of Herbert Lom, Jacques Sernas and Walter Rilla. The only compensations are wily Wilfrid Hyde White and 17-year-old Anouk Aimée, whose assured performance belies the fact she was making only her third film.

An archaeologist gets involved in gun-running while travelling to North Africa to collect some valuable antiques. While reluctant to cause trouble at first, a murder convinces him he must help bring the criminals to justice. Thriller, starring Trevor Howard and Herbert Lom.
