Writer/director David S Goyer gives some well-worn exorcism conventions a tasteless Jewish spin in this unintentionally goofy possession horror. Student Casey (Cloverfield's Odette Yustman) suffers from terrifying visions that turn out to be linked to her twin brother, who died in the womb. Worse, the evil kaballah spirit haunting her is a "dybbuk", a soul in limbo denied entrance to the afterlife - a phenomenon dating back to Nazi genetic experimentation on her ancestors. It's left to bored-looking rabbi Gary Oldman to expunge it and halt the family curse in a tame crash-bang finale. Monstrous apparitions include pensioners walking crab-style and dogs with upside-down heads, but the few jolts on offer here are largely the result of sudden loud noises on the soundtrack. The Unborn proves to be lazy, laughable and dull.

A woman learns she may be possessed by the ghost of a child who was murdered by the Nazis during the Second World War. After consulting a rabbi, she decides to rid herself of the spirit through a Jewish exorcism - but it proves reluctant to depart. Horror, starring Odette Annable, Gary Oldman, Meagan Good and Cam Gigandet.
