Our Score
The importance of family and survival is at the heart of this stylish nature documentary that depicts how a mother bear and her cubs fight for food and safety. Every frame becomes a painting as we follow the ursine unit through stunningly shot Alaskan vistas. But the film's essential mission is to make an accessible, audience-friendly drama documentary, so their journey is boiled down to very simple, relatable principles, with music and humour used to create a charming narrative that makes the experience less dry and academic. We also get a surprisingly effective narrator in actor John C Reilly (Kong: Skull Island). While he doesn't have the soothing tones of David Attenborough, he is perfectly placed to comment on the film's lighter moments. By taking the traditional wildlife film and applying a family-friendly twist, Bears manages to be more exciting than most films of its ilk and should be a sure-fire hit for cubs of all ages.

A documentary that follows an Alaskan bear family as the young cubs are taught life's most important lessons. Narrated by John C Reilly.
