Pitch Perfect 3

The third and final instalment in the all-girl a cappella choir saga hits far fewer high notes than the first two films. Neither music nor plot (lame hostage crisis, band break-up and an inter-band competition that goes absolutely nowhere) is anything to sing about. Series regulars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson return as the leading lights of the disbanded Bellas, who reform for one last competitive tour of US Army bases in Europe. They do their best. But, whereas the first two films delivered bright, breezy and brain-free entertainment, this is a sequel too far that strains to make enough beautiful music.
