Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Norm of the North won't give the likes of Disney/Pixar any sleepless nights. Essentially, it's Happy Feet with added Minions, though without the finesse and charm of those films. The leads are likeable, however, and there's a commendable eco-friendly message delivered with sledgehammer subtlety - oh, and enough pee jokes to ensure much snickering among the younger kids it's squarely aimed at. Rob Schneider voices polar bear Norm, who heads to New York with his lemming friends to thwart an evil property developer's plans to turn the Arctic into "Dubai on ice". There are strange detours and oddly random, incomplete dance sequences, but it's all fine without being too exciting. The transatlantic voice cast also includes Heather Graham, James Corden and Bill Nighy. They give it some welly, but it's the mute lemmings - like the Minions they're blatantly modelled on - that steal this rather modest show.
