Action comedy starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. Life gets dangerous for bored accountant Calvin Joyner when he reconnects with a former school classmate who now works in international espionage.
Kevin Hart plays an accountant who's lured into an international spy mission by a former classmate and then social outcast (Dwayne Johnson) now working for the CIA. The film will be wholly familiar to fans of Hart's work, as he once again plays the fast-talking comedy whirlwind who's in over his head. Director Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: a True Underdog Story) profits from the manic energy he always brings to a film, but what makes this one different is that he's not alone in delivering the laughs. Johnson is the secret weapon and is able to outshine his co-star to create some of the funnier moments. He looks dangerous, too, when things get tough in the final act. Scenes like one where the double-act engages in couples therapy showcase the "Rock's" ability to offset his imposing demeanour by being charmingly goofy. Of Hart's many action comedies, Central Intelligence is one of the more enjoyable thanks to this entertaining collaboration and a heartfelt anti-bullying message.
