Our Score
British crime drama has a dismal reputation, and this low-budget example didn't do much to redress the balance. But, thanks to Geoffrey Faithfull's seedy seaside cinematography, it has more atmosphere than most. When Bill Nagy is found dead after a nightclub brawl, novelist Paul Carpenter refuses to believe that his friend died from heart failure. Always one step ahead of detective Tony Quinn and selflessly offering widow Rona Anderson a shoulder to cry on, Carpenter isn't the most winning of heroes. But Michael McCarthy directs steadily and comes up with a truly original solution to the case.

An author sets out to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of his friend, an abrasive, outspoken alcoholic. Crime drama, starring Paul Carpenter and Rona Anderson.
