Our Score
One of the few pictures produced by the ill-fated low-budget Group 3 company, this feeble film attempts to reproduce the whimsy of the Ealing comedies and succeeds only in being snobbish, inevitable and dull. Eddie Byrne overplays his hand as the rascal who is the blot on a village's 100 per cent employment record and threatens to ruin its chances of national publicity. As usual, Sid James scores as the pub landlord who is also running a crooked campaign for the parish council, but even with borrowings from William A Wellman's Magic Town and the Ealing classic Passport to Pimlico the plot is contrived and inconsequential.

The residents of a village try to hide a local layabout before a visit from the prime minister, but accidentally make him a rich man. Comedy, starring Eddie Byrne and Jane Barrett.
