Sanaa Lathan is the 30-something professional lobbyist whose biological clock is ticking, causing the break-up of her latest relationship. But when dreamboat Michael Ealy appears in her life, he seems too good to be true - a suspicion that plays out as events shift inexorably from aspirational romance to home-invasion thriller. This gives Ealy the toughest task, switching from blue-eyed charmer to IT-savvy psychopath, and he makes a decent fist of it in a movie that offers little genuine depth, but moves through its paces watchably enough, borrowing judiciously from the Hitchcock playbook along the way. Lathan makes a likeable heroine, even if we ponder the wisdom of her continuing to live alone in a swish glass-walled house and, without making too much of an issue of it, the film hints that the white-dominated corporate environment in which she moves subtly adds to her feelings of isolation and vulnerability. A superficial, yet effective time-killer.
Summary
A political lobbyist recovering from a painful break-up forms a passionate new relationship with a charming stranger. However, she begins to wonder whether she can trust her new boyfriend has his behaviour grows increasingly volatile - a situation that only gets worse when her ex resurfaces. Thriller, starring Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy.
