Fourteen years after My Big Fat Greek Wedding became the highest-grossing romantic comedy ever, writer/star Nia Vardalos revisits life on the street where Toula Portokalos's family live side-by-side. The jokes feel familiar, but Vardalos draws you back in with open arms and the same big heart as Toula strives to put the spark back into her marriage with Ian (John Corbett) and keep their teenage daughter (Elena Kampouris) from leaving Chicago for NYU. Of course, the title promises another excuse to smash plates (although, that's the one stereotype Vardalos doesn't tick off) and delivers one as Michael Constantine and Lainie Kazan (returning as Toula's parents) retie the knot after discovering they're technically not married. Colourful chaos ensues and British director Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee) paints the comedy in broad strokes, with Vardalos as the grounding force and good old Auntie Voula (Andrea Martin) snagging the best lines - her romantic advice for Toula being to "shave everything". Amid extreme silliness, Vardalos's script occasionally makes pointed observations about the suffocating dynamics of a close-knit family, and she creates an infectious party atmosphere that helps you forgive the flaws.

A woman struggling to cope with a rebellious daughter and a marriage that has strayed into a rocky patch discovers a shocking family secret - her parents' marriage is not legal. She decides to try and resolve the situation by getting the family to rally round and organise the most elaborate wedding imaginable. Romantic comedy sequel, starring Nia Vardalos and John Corbett.
