Our Score
Legendary horror director Wes Craven is on shaky form with this mild chiller. Seven teenagers born on the night a homicidal maniac met his demise are the target of a curse, as the killer vowed to return and off them all. Sixteen years later and true to his word, they are gruesomely murdered one by one, but the most sensitive among them (Max Thieriot) fears the so-called "Riverton Ripper" may have cheated death to keep his promise. It's also hinted that one of the teens may be responsible for the bloody mayhem, after being possessed by the Ripper's soul. Although, on paper, this has all the components necessary for a thrill-a-minute horror, Craven fails to crank up the tension and deliver the spooks required. A pivotal plot twist is telegraphed within the opening 20 minutes, and the script relies too heavily on laboured scenes of clunky dialogue to move the story forward.

A serial killer dies vowing to return from the grave and murder seven babies who were born that day. Years later, the children, now teenagers, start mysteriously disappearing one by one. It seems the killer has made good his promise - or that one of the kids in question is the maniac reincarnated. Horror, starring Max Thieriot and John Magaro.
