Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

This charming comedy from Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) combines endearing characters with generous helpings of deadpan humour. Set in New Zealand, it stars Julian Dennison as a misfit tearaway teen who ventures into the wilderness to avoid being returned to the child welfare system. He is tracked down by his foster uncle (Sam Neill), a grumpy, taciturn mountain man who knows how to survive in the bush. As they try to stay one step ahead of the authorities, Dennison and Neill form a delightful double act and are utterly joyous to watch. The film is packed with amusing moments and witty exchanges. To quote Neill's character, "It's majestical".
