Godzilla vs Kong

Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse finally delivers on its awesome potential with this rematch between Earth's mightiest titans, who last faced off in 1962. Although he receives second billing in the title, it's the soulful Kong who drives the story, as scientists led by Rebecca Hall and Alexander Skarsgård attempt to shepherd him away from Skull Island and back to his natural home. Cue a Journey to the Centre of the Earth-style mission involving pioneering tech from a cybernetics company, whose sinister research programme is being investigated in a parallel plot strand by a kooky trio led by a returning Millie Bobby Brown. Meanwhile, Godzilla is destroying everything in its path - and may have just cause to do so. Ditching the rather solemn approach of the earlier Godzilla movies in this franchise for something altogether breezier, director Adam Wingard (The Guest) has created a thrill-packed adventure with epic-scale monster tussles and human characters worth rooting for. A skyscraper-trashing brawl in neon-lit Hong Kong is the action highlight, and a late appearance from another of Godzilla's old adversaries is sure to have fans roaring with delight.
