Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

While a sequel to 1997's hit Men in Black was a financial inevitability, its quality was less easily guaranteed. Director Barry Sonnenfeld returned with smart-suited alien immigration agents Jay (Will Smith) and Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), and again they're saving the planet. This time, however, it's super sexy Lara Flynn Boyle who's causing the cosmic chaos as evil alien queen Serleena and though her performance lacks depth and menace, fans won't mind - there are enough flashy special effects, colourful alien life and sharp humour here to keep them happy. But, despite Smith and Jones's witty bantering and bickering, you can't help feeling that this is the least everyone concerned could have done.
