Our Score
Conceived as a Bond-style adventure and having been rejected by Paul Newman, this story was picked up by Clint Eastwood, who turned it into a critical and box-office failure. In the weakest of his self-directed movies, Eastwood plays a mountaineering art collector and former spy who agrees to climb the Eiger and eliminate an agent in return for preferential tax status. It often looks spectacular, but the thin plotting and lacklustre dialogue and performances seriously let the film down.

An art professor who once worked as an assassin is blackmailed into returning to his old career to eliminate a spy. However, his target is in the middle of a mountaineering expedition, forcing the hitman to embark on a perilous climb up the Eiger in hot pursuit. Action adventure, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. With George Kennedy, Jack Cassidy and Vonetta McGee.
