Review

Rating: 1 out of 5.

A hero to a generation of young readers, Captain WE Johns's immortal flying ace is made to look very foolish in this ghastly spoof, directed with a leaden touch by John Hough. Neil Dickson does his best to give Biggles his customary gung-ho cheeriness, but his efforts are shot to pieces by a shambles of a story in which burger-bar boss Alex Hyde-White is whisked from modern America back to the First World War to join the dashing pilot (and his his time-twin) on a secret mission. However, the saddest aspect of this sorry episode is that it was Peter Cushing's final film. Not even one for entertaining the children.
