A man is desperate to emulate his thuggish father, a notorious football hooligan. He finds a kindred spirit in a recently released ex-convict who is out for revenge on an old rival and longs to restore his gang to its glory days with a campaign of mindless violence. Football violence and Brit gangster movies are mercilessly parodied in this cartoonish and frequently funny comedy about the ugly side of "the beautiful game". Young wastrel Danny (Jason Maza) is taken under the wing of hard man Dex (director and co-writer Nick Nevern), recently released from prison and determined to re-establish his "firm" as the top dogs of terrace thuggery. Never glamorising violence itself, Nevern's affectionate spoofing takes pot shots at all manner of the genre's stereotypes, a succession of familiar-face cameos bolstering the gags. There are also knowing references to other movies along the way (Goodfellas, The Shawshank Redemption), but the beating heart of the story is the ludicrous and larger-than-life Dex, who elevates the antihero to rarely seen levels of idiocy.
