Our Score
Proof that lightning seldom strikes twice, this was the belated and unnecessary sequel to George Roy Hill's multi-Oscar-winning hit. Robert Redford and Paul Newman's scam on gangster Robert Shaw is reprised as a boxing set-up, with Jackie Gleason and Mac Davis as their inadequate replacements. Oliver Reed and Karl Malden are welcome presences, and Teri Garr is the winner on all feminine counts, but this isn't enough to save it.

Summary

It's twist after twist as Gondorff (Jackie Gleason), Hooker (Mac Davis) and Countess Veronica (Teri Garr) try to out sting both Doyle Lonnegan (Oliver Reed), the notorious gangster previously stung by this group and now out for revenge and profit, and Macalinski (Karl Malden), a local racketeer. It's the con to outdo all cons, and someone's finally going to get stung... but who?
