Bill Paxton (Aliens) and Laurence Fishburne (Event Horizon) lend their sci-fi genre credentials to a passable post-apocalypse yarn, in which survivors of an ice age are reduced to living in underground bunkers. In this frozen new world, catching the common cold is as deadly as having the plague - a mere sniffle earns ejection with extreme prejudice. However, the chilling status quo is disturbed when contact with a neighbouring settlement is lost, forcing Fishburne and young volunteer Kevin Zegers to investigate. But when something savage comes their way, the survival of their own settlement becomes paramount and a race against time ensues. This subzero sci-fi tale has the odd tense moment and the location of a decommissioned military base in Canada proves grittily claustrophobic, but it's still just too derivative to really raise the temperature.

The world is plunged into a new ice age, with a handful of colonies struggling to survive with dwindling resources. When the residents of one outpost lose contact with a neighbouring settlement, they brave the harsh conditions to provide aid and discover a deadly new threat to the human race. Sci-fi thriller, starring Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Zegers and Bill Paxton.
