Our Score
The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity have a lot to answer for. Devil's Due is a modest addition to the spawn-of-Satan genre, and the tired and over-familiar found-footage format does it few favours. Allison Miller and Zach Gilford honeymoon in the Dominican Republic and after a wild night out they both experience a mystery blackout. Back at home, they discover that they are going to have a baby. Gilford keeps a comprehensive video diary of events, as the pregnancy progresses, and things get weirder and weirder. Soon, it's less a question of who's the daddy than what's the daddy. The film flirts brazenly with the clichés of the genre, from covens to creepy clairvoyants, and is contrived and inconsistent. But there are just about enough jumpy bits to keep the more easily pleased horror fan happy.
