Our Score
This likeable if faintly preposterous teen flick consolidated Liv Tyler's reputation as a key icon for adolescent America. The film is set around a day in the life of the small independent music store of the title, run by Anthony LaPaglia, which is about to be taken over by a record giant. Tyler looks suitably winsome, although she is overshadowed by the smart performances of Renee Zellweger and the caustic Rory Cochrane, while Maxwell Caulfield enjoys himself playing a spoilt teen idol. Director Allan Moyle, who made the excellent Pump Up the Volume, demonstrates a keen understanding of adolescent angst, though there is a distinctly old-fashioned whiff of the "come on gang, let's put on a show"-style musical about the whole affair.

The staff of an independent record shop spend a day trying to prevent a corporate takeover by raising enough money to allow the manager to buy it himself. However, they also have personal problems to contend with. Comedy drama, starring Liv Tyler, Renee Zellweger, Anthony LaPaglia and Maxwell Caulfield.
