Need for Speed

Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper go head to head in a cross-country supercars race in this speedfreak extravaganza loosely based on the popular video game. It's aimed fairly and squarely at the Fast & Furious crowd, but don't let its pedigree put you off - it's entertaining enough in its lowbrow way. Paul plays racer Tobey, fresh from prison for a crime he didn't commit, and out for revenge on the fellow racer (Cooper) who framed him. He gets his chance when both enter souped-up cars in the illegal road race run by mystery millionaire Monarch (Michael Keaton). The characters are cornily cardboard, but the cars are unquestionably super, and the racing rather exciting. You'll forget the whole thing five minutes after it's finished, but it's kinda fun while you're watching.
