Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

This rather disappointing sequel isn't anywhere near the equal of the original Babe, in which the delightful talking-pig hero won hearts as well as prizes at a sheepdog trial. Danger now awaits Babe when he travels to the city to earn some money after Farmer Hoggett (James Cromwell) is injured. Mad Max maestro George Miller, who co-wrote the first Babe, takes over directing duties on this occasion and puts a quirkier stamp on proceedings. The action is taken at too frantic a pace to let the characters really develop, but the special-effects work with the animals is still quite wonderful.
