Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

There's not much worth noting about this Disney attempt at maritime comedy. When businessman Martin Short and his wife Mary Kay Place set sail with their sassy kids, they hire titular seaman Kurt Russell for his supposed expertise. Needless to say, their best-laid plans are soon up the creek without a paddle. Having sported an eye-patch in Escape from New York, Russell gets to do so once again, only this time he combines it with something that looks worryingly like a bikini. Although the film does contain some hilarious moments, these are too few and far between, while singer Paul Anka's turn as a boat salesman would have been better left on the cutting-room floor.
