This was almost a last-gasp children's outing for Macaulay Culkin, who at the time was entering that difficult period approaching adolescence. Culkin plays the comic-strip character of the title, a boy who has unlimited wealth but longs for a normal life. His wish is granted when he takes up with a ragbag gang of kids to foil nasty John Larroquette, who is trying to cheat Richie out of his fortune. All the usual clichés are present and correct, and children will lap up the juvenile slapstick, although it's not a patch on Home Alone.

Summary

The world's wealthiest youngster has everything he could possibly want except friends. When his parents go missing, he must try to keep their fortune out of the clutches of a scheming executive, with the help of some less well-off children. Family comedy, starring Macaulay Culkin, John Larroquette, Jonathan Hyde, Edward Herrmann, Christine Ebersole and Mike McShane.
