Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

This grubby British gangland drama does nothing to enhance the reputations of such stars as Ian Ogilvy and Steven Berkoff, or of Dani Dyer, daughter of EastEnders star Danny. It's the film that taste forgot, rooted in the spurious notion that there was a Golden Age of gangsterdom, when thugs only coshed other wrong 'uns, were good to their mums, and made it safe for locals to walk the streets. The plot kicks in when old-school baddie Berkoff is kicked to death by stereotypical hoodies while saving Dyer from gang rape. Berkoff's Costa-del-criminal brother (Ogilvy) flies back from Spain, gets his old firm back together, and vows bloody revenge. Cue much torture, and even more overacting, especially from head hoodie Danny-Boy Hatchard (EastEnders), who's so over the top he's halfway down the other side. Factor in duff dialogue, duffer action scenes and an overall ambience akin to a bad smell and you have a thoroughly vile film.
