Our Score
An entertaining mix of utter tosh and surprising historical accuracy, this American-Icelandic co-production opens with an explicit death sequence that has to be seen to be disbelieved. The story focuses on a warrior prince who vows vengeance when his father is murdered and his people are run off their land. The action scenes are exciting, but performances are dreary in comparison and the pacing is rather pedestrian. It looks good, however, perhaps because director Michael Chapman was cinematographer on films such as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

This epic story chronicles the relentless quest of a young Viking Warrior named Kjartan who has sought out to avenge his father's death in Iceland in a time long ago after escaping the clutches of his corrupt and mortal arch nemesis, Ketil.
