Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

This routine western stars Audie Murphy as a gunslinger who has a change of heart when he's hired by a landowner to kill a rancher. The film is nothing special, but it does offer a chance to see Susan Cabot (Sorority Girl, The Wasp Woman) before she became a Roger Corman cult heroine. The use of the Marlene Dietrich song See What the Boys in the Back Room Will Have prompted Universal to remake Destry Rides Again the following year, with Murphy in the James Stewart role. The film has absolutely nothing to do with the famous TV series of the same name, which was shown in the UK as Gun Law.
