Our Score
Marvel Comics meets George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic, and an uneasy, bland alliance it is, too, with Howard T Duck - a series of anonymous actors camping it up in yellow suits - transported to mid-1980s punkland. Howard takes to the dreadful music of the time and feisty chanteuse Lea Thompson, but fails to ignite any form of discernible plotline or audience response. The movie remains a tedious mess until the final few reels, when Mr Lucas's boys remember they are good at special effects and throw some highly dynamic ones into the burbling pot. This wakes everyone up with a severe jolt, but, too late, alas, to save a pretty execrable movie.

Summary

Colourful adventure based on the Marvel Comics stories about a cigar-chomping, wise-cracking duck who mysteriously arrives from outer space to take on an evil force threatening to destroy Earth. Tim Robbins and Jeffrey Jones star.
