Houston’s family have given permission for a single camera to be placed in the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey – the church Houston attended as a child – with footage made available to media outlets via the Press Association.

The service begins at 12 noon Eastern Standard Time (5pm GMT) on 18 February and is expected to last around 90 minutes.

Marvin Winans, the gospel singer and pastor who married Houston to fellow singer Bobby Brown in 1992, will give the eulogy – although reports suggest Brown himself, who had a stormy relationship with Houston, has been told he is not welcome at the service.

Houston will be laid to rest in Fair View Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, where her father was buried in 2003.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the cause of Houston’s death continues. The singer was found underwater and unconscious in the bath of her Beverly Hilton hotel suite on Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court officials have issued subpoenas for her medical records after finding as yet unnamed prescription drugs in the room.
