There’s plenty to look forward to in December, but one of the greatest perks over the festive season is undoubtedly having the time to kick back and relax and stream as many Christmas movies as your heart desires.

And one film that it’s definitely worth revisiting is Love Actually, which celebrated its 20th anniversary back in November.

At the time, writer/director Richard Curtis revealed to RadioTimes.com that he doesn't often rewatch the film himself – and that he considers its continued success a "strange bit of luck".

Meanwhile, co-casting director Fiona Weir reflected on casting the key roles fans have come to know and love.

Opening up about Alan Rickman’s performance as Harry in the film, who cheated on his wife Karen (Emma Thompson) with his assistant Mia (Heike Makatsch), Weir told People: "Alan encompassed that deeply complicated man who loves his wife and family, but has somehow lost track of something in his life and gets tempted by this other girl, but still really cares about the people who work for him."

Speaking about Rickman’s casting, Weird added that the production team "knew that he would bring even more layers and complexity to the part than was already there".

The film might be schmaltzy, unrealistic and a little bit weird (yes, we’re talking about Andrew Lincoln, Keira Knightley and those much-parodied signs), but Love Actually can always be relied upon to fill viewers with festive cheer – and is it really Christmas until you’ve heard Bill Nighy attempting to cram too many extra syllables into his cover of Love Is All Around?

From Thomas Brodie-Sangster running through the airport and Hugh Grant dancing his way around Downing Street, to Nighy’s run-in with Ant & Dec and Dame Emma Thompson’s truly heart-breaking Joni Mitchell moment (sob), Curtis’s film is packed with iconic scenes.

The film follows 10 interconnected love stories in the run-up to Christmas with Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Laura Linney and Alan Rickman just some of the other stars who play crucial roles.

If you can’t wait to revisit this classic in Christmas 2023, here's how you can watch and stream Love Actually this year.

Where to watch Love Actually online in the UK

If you have Sky Cinema or NOW then you're in luck – as Love Actually is currently available for free with a subscription.

It's also available for digital download on various platforms including Amazon Prime Video, iTunes and Google Play at a cost of £3.99 while you can also buy the DVD on Amazon or buy the soundtrack here.

Is Love Actually on TV this Christmas 2023?

Love Actually has become a staple of the TV schedules over the festive period, and it once again graced our screens earlier in December and aired on Sky Showcase at 9pm on Saturday 16th December.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that it will crop up in the schedules closer to the big day, too.

Is Love Actually on Netflix?

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but although Love Actually was available to watch on Netflix over the Christmas holidays a couple of years ago, it has since left the streaming giant.

However, Netflix is home to plenty of other Christmas viewing options, including another star-studded mid-2000s festive romcom in Nancy Myers's 2006 flick The Holiday.
