Platinum Jubilee events are in full swing, and celebrations are set to take place across the entire bank holiday weekend.

Four days of festivities kicked off on Thursday (2nd June 2022) with Trooping the Colour, and will be followed by an exciting programme of events, including the National Lottery’s Jubilee Street Party and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, which is set to take over the capital at the end of the weekend.

One of the most anticipated events to mark the momentous occasion is the Service of Thanksgiving, which will celebrate the Queen’s position as head of the Church of England.

Unfortunately, the Queen will not attend Friday’s Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving after experiencing discomfort while watching Thursday’s parade at Buckingham Palace.

The decision was made with “great reluctance” after taking into account the “journey and activity required”, the palace said.

While the Queen will not attend the service, wider members of the royal family will be present including the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with Prince Charles representing the Queen.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who have travelled over from California – will also be present in what will be Prince Harry and Meghan’s first royal event together since leaving the UK in 2020.

The sermon will be presented by the Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell, after Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby tested positive for Covid-19.

The service will be broadcast live from St Paul’s Cathedral in London, but when exactly is it and how can you watch the celebrations from home?
