S1-E1 Pilot

S1-E1 Pilot

Nashville is as known as much for its soapy storylines as its sequins and Stetsons, and the finales have a tendency to go all out. Such was the case with the series three cliffhanger, which left fans of Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) with their hearts in their mouths as Nashville's country crooner – and resident man candy – underwent a liver transplant, courtesy of his sister Beverley.

As the credits rolled, one of the siblings flat-lined in surgery – but which one? The answer becomes clear within minutes of series four opening, but that's not the only drama plaguing leading lady Rayna James (Connie Britton). Surely she’s regretting her decision to take young diva Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) under her wing.

And as always in Nashville, the theatrical lives of Music City’s rich and famous play second fiddle to the show’s soundtrack, which yet again delivers plenty of rhythmic ditties, soulful blues and toe-tappin’ tunes.

Fading country legend Rayna James struggles to maintain her place in the spotlight, and things become more complicated as rising star Juliette Barnes becomes determined to alienate her. American musical drama, starring Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere.
