At the end of the previous series of this clever science-geek comedy, über-nerd Howard married Bernadette before being launched into orbit to join the International Space Station. As we return, his furious, shrieking (and unseen, of course) mother has managed to track him down, berating Howard for being “a horrible son”.
In truth, it all feels a bit laboured and thin. Some of the old magic has gone, probably because the geeks, apart from the perpetually single Raj, are now paired up, so we don’t have any of those lovely knockabout scenes of them together in their lads’ apartment. But there are still some good gags. Just not enough of them.
Despite being on the International Space Station, Howard gets caught in a strange argument between Bernadette and his mother via video link. Elsewhere, Raj feels lonely while his best friend is away and ends up interfering with Sheldon's and Leonard's dates. Comedy, starring Simon Helberg.
