Summary

Almost a year after launching his campaign to get some of Britain's 350,000 long-term vacant homes back into use for families in need, architect George Clarke reports on the progress that has been made. He meets some of the 6,500 people who reported an empty property in their area and visits a scheme in Mansfield where army veterans are refurbishing properties for their comrades to live in. But he also discovers councils are still being allowed to demolish thousands of empty homes.
