Later Live - with Jools Holland

Series 41 - Episode 6

After a quiet couple of weeks, Jools pulls a huge international name out of his raggedy bag: the Killers are in the studio. New song Runaways is their biggest, boldest driving tune yet, calling to mind Bruce Springsteen, the Raspberries or maybe Meat Loaf. None other than Jeremy Vine proclaimed it “the best 45rpm single released for about ten years by any band in the world”. So there.

Also in Jools’s torus of tunes: Kristina Train, Polica and Atlanta soul singer Cody Chesnutt.

Las Vegas rock band the Killers return to the Later studio with songs from their fourth album Battle Born, which was released last month. Minneapolis indie quintet Polica make their UK TV debut with numbers from acclaimed debut Give You the Ghost and Atlanta soul musician Cody Chesnutt performs tracks from his Landing on a Hundred long-player. New York-born singer Kristina Train plays songs from her album Dark Train and Jools chats to musician Adam Ant. Also appearing are American singer-songwriters Valerie June and Jackie DeShannon.
