Some of us like our zombie dramas understated, chic, eerie and French (see the brilliant The Returned, tomorrow C4). Others prefer this ultra-violent US import, with its murderous undead and beleaguered survivor-heroes. But then, maybe there’s room for both. As Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of brothers and sisters hole up inside a prison, they face a clutch of brutal inmates who have survived the zombie apocalypse that’s ravaged the outside world. It’s a bloody hour that includes extreme unpleasantness with an axe.
Rick and the others collaborate with the new group of survivors to clear another prison wing of zombies, but it is an uneasy alliance. Carol carries out a Caesarean section on a dead walker as practice for the operation she may have to perform on Lori. But an unseen pair of eyes is keeping watch on her progress. Post-apocalyptic drama, starring Andrew Lincoln.
