Dragons' Den

Series 10 - Episode 8

Notice anything unusual about the investors’ lair this week? They’re a Dragon down. Hilary Devey has gone home, Evan Davis says, because she’s not feeling too well. Four respected business leaders are hardly less scary than five, though, for nervous butcher Paul Turner. He wants funds to boost his sausage business, but is reluctant to risk his family’s established butcher’s shop.

The other serious prospect is Karrina Oldale, who has bought large volumes of granular de-icer from China using her own money and needs help to shift it. She favours folded arms and a strategic silent mouth-clamp over a simple yes or no answer, but her idiosyncrasies could strike a chord with one of the more eccentric Dragons.

Hilary Devey is absent through illness, leaving only four of the multimillionaire investors to assess pitches from a nervous butcher seeking a cash injection for his award-winning sausages, and a father-and-daughter duo showcasing their troupe of drummers. Also in the Den, a first-time inventor advises how to keep dry while cleaning car wheels, a former teacher asks the Dragons to make origami puppets, and an inanimate object speaks for itself - and asks for £50,000. Evan Davis presents.
