Later Live - with Jools Holland

Series 41 - Episode 2

Plenty of musical heritage in the studio. Neil Sedaka plays a couple of songs from his doorstopper of a back catalogue, while Bobby Womack performs from his comeback album Bravest Man in the Universe. The surprise package is Lisa Marie Presley, playing her own brand of stripped-down, bluesy soul. She doesn’t have the smoothness and control of her daddy, but who does?

Also in Jools’s artistic amphitheatre: the breathless, slightly too authentic post-punk of Savages, and the polite jigs of surprise worldwide megastars Mumford & Sons, whose long-awaited second album is now out. They’re keeping their waistcoats neatly buttoned and delivering more of the same.

Award-winning folk band Mumford & Sons perform tracks from their second album Babel. Singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka treats the audience to tunes from his back catalogue, Bobby Womack is joined by Richard Russell and Damon Albarn to play songs from his Bravest Man in the Universe album, and Lisa Marie Presley showcases tracks from her latest LP Storm & Grace. The show also features performances by two up-and-coming acts - London post-punks Savages and Hackney collective Rudimental, whose single Feel the Love topped the UK chart earlier this year. Jools also chats to Jeff Lynne, who discusses his new album Long Wave. An extended edition can be seen on Friday at 11.50pm.
