The “Hurricane Sharon” trailer may have got your hopes up that Walford’s very own princess would be flying back into the Square suspended on a wire. The reality is not quite as spectacular, although that frantic banging on the Vic’s door does herald the start of a marathon — seven episodes this week — that concludes several story arcs and launches several more.
Today’s instalment kicks off at Phil and Shirley’s engagement party where a practically comatose Ian Beale is just one of the dramatic distractions, but it ends with a disgruntled groom at what should have been Sharon Rickman’s la-di-da wedding.
Phil is determined to keep the truth about Heather's murder from emerging, so he orders Ben and Jay to keep Ian away from everyone - but that proves easier said than done after Shirley insists the boys should attend her engagement party. As Ian starts to open up to Jean, it seems their plan may be falling apart - and matters are complicated further when Phil receives an unexpected visit from an old flame wearing a wedding dress. Meanwhile, Janine joins Kat for a mums' get-together, but as the talk turns to Michael, her paranoia goes into overdrive.
