Dave and Si do love their greasy breakfasts, but as it takes a brisk seven-mile walk to burn off a calorific fry-up they decide to come up with a healthy version involving watercress and cherry tomatoes. The Hairies make appreciative noises but I’m not sure they’d willingly swap it for the heart attack on a plate. Their alternative roast chicken, on the other hand, goes down a treat.
The recipes are inspiring whether you’re on a diet or not, although the frequent shots of Dave and Si in their underpants and references to Dave’s libido is enough to put anybody off their meat and two veg.
Si King and Dave Myers continue their dietary challenge by reinventing favourite family meals. They prepare a cooked breakfast that delivers all the excitement of a fry-up without adding to the waistline, and a calorie-conscious roast chicken dinner. They also rework French classic the cassoulet and set it before a couple of famished rugby teams, and make the ultimate sacrifice in a bid to help shift the pounds - give up their beloved motorbikes in favour of bicycles.
