Barry Manilow at the BBC

Manilow at the BBC is an archive of TV performances in which Manilow, sheathed in lustrous hair, gazes down the lens, singing just to you. Often he’s on that oddly high stool of his, which made it look from some angles as if the piano keys were down the front of his trousers.

As well as songs such as Mandy, The Old Songs, I Write the Songs, Could It Be Magic and an oddly cheerful Can’t Smile without You, there are highlights of his 1983 Blenheim Palace gig and good-humoured chats with Parky.

Archive performances from throughout the singer-songwriter's career, featuring hits including Mandy, Copacabana and Could It Be Magic. The programme also features clips from Top of the Pops and Parkinson, as well as highlights of Manilow's 1983 open-air concert at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
